The General Service Unit (GSU) has rolled out a new leadership team after a colourful change-of- command ceremony was organised at the unit’s headquarters in Ruaraka.
Assistant Inspector General of Police Johana Kiplagat Tonui was handed the reins of the GSU as the new Commandant, replacing Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police Ranson Lolmodoni who has been leading the elite paramilitary formation.
The leadership change is a significant event for the GSU, Mostly since Tonui is going back to the unit where he started his policing journey as a trainee. His appointment is a homecoming to the formation that was the foundation of his early career in the National Police Service.
The Kenya Police Service joined everyone in congratulating Commandant Tonui on his appointment, and they believe that he will lead the GSU successfully, keeping up the unit’s high standards of professionalism, discipline, and service to the country.
The GSU has an important function in national security operations, like handling emergencies, safeguarding key installations, and assisting other security agencies in maintaining law and order.
The National Police Service extended to the new commandant good wishes for success as he takes charge of one of Kenya’s most specialised security formations.
