Kenyan TikToker and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student Derrick Omollo has passed away following a fatal fall into a quarry in Juja, Kiambu County.
Derrick, known for his relatable content and growing influence on social media, reportedly died unexpectedly after being ambushed by thugs.
According to reports shared by friends, Derrick was walking with four of his friends when they encountered thugs. In the chaos of escape, he slipped and fell into a rock in the quarry, sustaining fatal injuries and later passed away. He has left the entire students’ community mourning his death.
On TikTok, Derrick had resonated with thousands of young Kenyans, with over 107,000 followers and more than 6.6 million likes. His videos captured humor, struggles and everyday realities of a student life. His content was like a mirror of campus life, often infused with wit and authenticity that made him stand out the digital world.
His popularity had begun to attract brand collaborations, positioning him as one of the promising voices in Kenya’s growing creator economy.
