Jamaican reggae artist Fantan Mojah has died at the age of 49 on July 14, 2026, at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston, after suffering complications related to a heart condition.

Fantan Mojah, whose real name is Owen Moncrieffe, became unwell in 2024 when he was hospitalized in Martinique with breathing difficulties and chest tightness, with his heart functioning at 15% capacity. In 2025, he recovered and resumed his music tour in Europe and Germany later that year.

Mojah’s music is deeply rooted in Rastafarian principles; with his 2005 album Hail the King made him prominence. He has also released songs such as Stronger, Nuh Build Great Men and Rasta Got Soul, which increased his popularity.

His songs included themes of poverty, injustice, and faith creating positivity and social awareness, resonating with audiences across Jamaica, Africa and beyond.
