Wajir County has successfully concluded the Madaraka Day Thematic Week, setting the stage for Monday’s national Madaraka Day celebrations that will bring together leaders and citizens from across the country.

According to Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects in the Executive Office of the President, Dennis Itumbi, the week-long activities focused on education, innovation and the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping Kenya’s future.

The thematic discussions brought together stakeholders from various sectors to explore opportunities and challenges in the education sector, with particular emphasis on leveraging emerging technologies to improve learning outcomes.

Beyond policy discussions, the event delivered several community development projects aimed at improving access to quality education in the county.

Among the initiatives undertaken were the construction of new classrooms, rehabilitation of existing learning facilities, improvement of water and sanitation infrastructure in schools, and the donation of a mobile laboratory through the State Department for Basic Education’s Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEPU).

The projects are expected to enhance the learning environment for students while supporting the government’s efforts to improve educational standards in underserved areas.

“Wajir wrapped up the Madaraka Day Thematic Week today with rich discussions on the future of education and the opportunities of Artificial Intelligence,” Itumbi said in a statement.

He noted that the week was designed not only to foster dialogue on national development priorities but also to leave a tangible legacy for local communities.
