The National Police Service (NPS) has announced a leadership reshuffle, appointing Issa Mohamud as the new Nairobi Regional Police Commander.
He swaps roles with George Seda, who has been transferred to the Western region. Mohamud officially assumed office during a handover meeting with Nairobi’s 12 sub-county police commanders.
Mohamud brings experience from previous roles, including stints in Kabete, Machakos, and West Pokot, before serving as Western Regional Police Commander. He pledged a collaborative approach to tackle security challenges in the capital, working closely with stakeholders to maintain law and order, especially as the country edges closer to the next election cycle.
The reshuffle is part of routine administrative adjustments aimed at strengthening operations across the country, according to Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat. Other regional commanders remain in place, while the Directorate of Criminal Investigations also saw key changes, including the retirement of Abdallah Komesha, the appointment of Daniel Kandie as Nairobi RCIO, and several other leadership reassignments within the DCI.
