Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has called for the arrest of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, saying he would be disappointed if the county boss was not arrested on Monday, October 19, 2026.

In remarks circulating on Monday, Kaluma said Natembeya should respect President William Ruto even when disagreeing with him as an individual.

“I’ll be disappointed if Natembeya isn’t arrested today!” Kaluma said.

“You may disrespect Ruto as a person, but you must always respect President Ruto,” he added.

The remarks came as tension escalated between Natembeya and the national government following a dispute over development projects in Trans Nzoia County.

On Monday morning, officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reportedly raided Natembeya’s home in Kitale.

Former Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa confirmed that the governor was not at home during the operation, adding that he had spoken to him and that he was safe in Nairobi.

The circumstances surrounding the operation and whether authorities intended to arrest Natembeya were not immediately clear.

The reported raid followed a public disagreement between Natembeya and Ruto over the Masinde Muliro Market in Kitale, which the President recently launched.

Natembeya has maintained that the market was built by the county government and accused the national government of taking credit for county projects.

The governor had also vowed to visit the market and oversee the allocation of stalls to traders, despite the political dispute surrounding the facility.

The disagreement has unfolded amid concerns over the withdrawal of Natembeya’s security detail, which he said was recalled without prior communication.

On October 17, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka warned the government against harassing or arresting Natembeya, saying the opposition would resist any such move.

Neither an arrest warrant nor an official confirmation that Natembeya was due to be arrested on Monday had been established by the time of publication.
