Grammy-nominated record producer of hip-hop Tay Keith has died at the age of 29, in Nashville, Tennessee.
The producer, whose real name was Brytavious Chambers, was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and was, found dead in his home on June 18, 2026 as police have confirmed, police conducted a check with no one suspected.
“No foul play is suspected in the death of Brytavious Chambers, 29, also known as Grammy-nominated record producer Tay Keith,” police said in a statement.
Tay Keith’s journey was that of a legend who began his production at his teenage, uploading tracks to SoundCloud while still in high school. His raw, hard hitting style caught the attention of local rappers and international stars such as Drake, Beyoncé, Travis Scott Lil Nas X, Bloc Boy JB and Eminem.
He graduated with a degree in media management in 2018, the same year he co-produced Travis Scott’s music “Sicko Mode,” a track that became a phenomenon, earning him the Grammy nomination. He was also featured in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Music list in 2025.
The Metro Nashville Police Department has stated the cause of death has not been established as they are waiting for the outcome autopsy to confirm.
In his production, he produced Drake’s “Nonstop,” reaching No. 2 on the Billboard, while Bloc Boy JB’s “Look Alive” was No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. He also produced Eminem “Not Alike,” and Beyoncé “Before I Go,” with each beat carrying its own signature.
His final social media posts, shared just days before his death, have been dissected by fans searching for clues as some speculate about exhaustion, mental health struggles or substance of use.
