The government is set to disburse KSh3 billion to 122,000 beneficiaries under the second phase of the Nyota Programme’s business support component, as part of efforts to empower small entrepreneurs and promote sustainable livelihoods across the country.
President William Ruto announced that he had received a briefing at State House, Nairobi, on the progress of the programme ahead of the official launch of the second disbursement scheduled for Friday.
Under the second tranche, each beneficiary will receive KSh25,000, bringing the total amount received under the programme to KSh50,000 after an earlier disbursement of a similar amount made earlier this year.
The President said beneficiaries have also completed a business development skills programme aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage and grow their enterprises.
“With the launch of the KSh3 billion second tranche of the business support component for the 122,000 beneficiaries, each beneficiary will receive KSh25,000. In addition to a similar amount they had received earlier in the year, each beneficiary will have received a total of KSh50,000,” President Ruto said.
He noted that the nationwide rollout of the second disbursement will be conducted simultaneously in 18 venues across the country, bringing together beneficiaries from all 47 counties.
According to the President, the Nyota Programme combines financial support with entrepreneurship training to help beneficiaries establish and expand businesses, improve household incomes and contribute to economic growth.
The second disbursement forms part of the government’s broader agenda to support entrepreneurship, create employment opportunities and strengthen financial inclusion by enabling more Kenyans to access capital and business development services.
