The Government has commenced Phase II of the Machakos Affordable Housing Project following the successful completion and occupation of 220 housing units delivered under Phase I.
In a statement, Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Dr. Raymond Omollo said foundation works for the second phase are already underway as the government continues to expand access to affordable housing across the country.
According to the PS, the new phase will deliver 570 additional housing units spread across four 14-storey residential blocks located adjacent to the completed Phase I project.
“This continued investment reaffirms a firm commitment to deliver tangible, life-changing projects to Kenyans across the country, even in regions long associated with prominent political figures but where such transformative impact has often remained elusive,”statement read.
Omollo said the continued investment demonstrates the government’s commitment to delivering transformative development projects that directly improve the lives of Kenyans.
He noted that beyond addressing housing challenges, the programme is also creating employment opportunities by equipping workers with practical skills, stable incomes and experience that will remain beneficial even after completion of the project.
The PS further highlighted the role played by the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration in supporting the implementation of the housing project through the provision of security and coordination.
“The successful implementation of this phase is strengthened by the critical support of the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, whose role in ensuring a secure and well-coordinated environment remains essential to the timely and efficient delivery of the project,” he said.
