Gor Mahia goalkeeper Gad Mathews has officially announced his departure, concluding seven year tenure with the team. His exit comes as a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 season.
“Thank you for the unforgettable memories and for being such a great home in the past seven years. The atmosphere may change, but our bond won’t. All the best Mahia… And to the fans, you made me feel at home,” Mathews said in a statement.
On the other side, Gor Mahia club stated, “Goalkeeper Gad Mathews departs the club following the conclusion of his contract…We wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors. Thank you, Gad and all the best!”
Gad Mathews has played for Kariobangi Sharks and Western Stima, later joining K’Ogalo from Kisumu All Stars in 2019/20 season, where he became the first goalkeeper to play for the team.
He has won three FKF Premier League titles, with an array of silverware, helping the club secure its record of 22 league crown in the recently concluded 2025-2026 campaign. In 2022/23 season, he earned FKF Premier League’s “Golden Glove award.
Gor Mahia has signed Humphrey Katasi from AFC Leopards and National Super League “Golden Glove” winner Michael Onyango for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
