Rigathi Gachagua Welcomes Ka Waithira to DCP Party

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has continued to widen its political footprint after leadership and governance expert Karanja Ka-waithira officially joined the outfit ahead of the next general election.

Ka-waithira, who previously contested the Laikipia West parliamentary seat on a NARC-Kenya ticket, is the latest entrant into what is shaping up to be a competitive race within the constituency under the DCP banner.

Welcoming him to the party, DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua said the party is committed to running transparent and credible nominations, amid growing interest from aspirants across the country.

He assured Ka-waithira and other hopefuls that the party would offer a level playing field, with nominations conducted in a free and fair manner.

“I have assured Mr. Karanja, just as I have reassured our other aspirants, that he is in the right place and that party nominations will be conducted in a free and fair manner at all levels,” he said.

Gachagua noted that the influx of aspirants into DCP reflects increasing confidence in the party’s approach to leadership, which he said is anchored on public participation and accountability.

The entry of Ka-waithira adds to a growing list of aspirants positioning themselves within DCP, particularly in the Mt Kenya region, where the party has been actively consolidating support.

His move also signals shifting political alignments in Laikipia West, a constituency that has previously witnessed tight electoral contests involving candidates from multiple parties.

DCP, which has been attracting leaders from across the political divide, is increasingly presenting itself as a key player to watch as early political realignments begin to take shape ahead of the next polls.
