Dr. Nancy Macharia, the immediate former CEO of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), has been nominated for a key leadership role in Murang’a County following her exit from the national education sector.

Murang’a Governor Dr. Irungu Kang’ata has nominated Dr. Macharia to serve as the Chairperson of the Murang’a County Public Service Board, signaling a major shift in her public service career from national to county-level governance.

The nomination was formally communicated to the Murang’a County Assembly through a letter dated June 10, 2025.

Joining her on the board are Dr. Louis Mwende Musikali, Johnson Kang’ethe Kinyua, and Dr. Brian Lishenga Makamu, who have been nominated as board members.

Additionally, Oscar Kimani Gathura has been proposed for the role of Secretary to the Board.

The nomination process will now move to the County Assembly’s Governance, Labour and Social Welfare, and Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.

The committee is expected to conduct vetting hearings and submit a report within 21 days from June 17.

Should her nomination be approved, Dr. Macharia will oversee human resource operations within the county’s public service, including recruitment, performance management, and disciplinary actions.

The County Assembly is now set to begin the vetting process to assess the qualifications and suitability of all nominees before making a final decision.
