Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) deputy party leader Cleophas Malala has rejected the appointment of Mukhisa Kituyi as the spokesperson of the United Opposition.
Kituyi’s appointment was made public on Thursday, September 4, in an event graced by the coalition’s supposed principals, including Rigathi Gachagua, Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka.
Notably, Malala skipped the event.
In an interview, the former Kakamega senator expressed his reservations about the appointment, saying the position ought to be held by a young, vibrant leader.
"My position on the choice of the spokesperson is that the United Opposition deserves to demonstrate willingness in engaging with fresh youthful leadership that can propel the country to the next frontier of politics and governance, qualities which Mukhisa Kituyi is acutely lacking," Malala said.
