Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki conducted an inspection of the nearly completed 60,000-seater Talanta Sports City along Ngong Road in Nairobi, expressing satisfaction with the progress of the landmark project.

According to Kindiki, a stadium of this magnitude marks a major breakthrough in Kenya’s sports infrastructure, pointing out that it’s the first international, standard stadium to be constructed in the country since Kasarani Stadium was finished back in 1987.

While on the site, the Deputy President engaged with the builders, checked critically the construction process and appreciated their tireless efforts and contribution towards nation building through their hard work.

Kindiki believes the reason for the fast pace of the project is that team members from the Defence Forces of Kenya have been closely monitoring the work, and a round the clock schedule of construction has been instituted, resulting in accelerated completion.

In addition, Kindiki unveiled that the government has invested in sports infrastructure that has led to the construction of 31 stadiums spread all over the country. He said the venture represents the biggest sports development programme that the country has ever seen.

Based on the report, Talanta Sports City will be the state’s flagship project in its commitment to hosting international sporting events and at the same time developing sports talent and sports nationwide.
