Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) initiated a manhunt for a suspect who is linked to the disappearance of a four-year-old child in Nakuru County.
The DCI is appealing to members of the public to provide information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect, whose photograph has been released by authorities.
The child was last seen at Mwariki Police Station on June 11, 2026. The family has been searching for the child since then. Investigations reveal that the suspect not only caused the family’s agony but also tried to hoist a ransom on the family.
Detectives from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit (AHTCPU), working along with the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) at DCI Headquarters, and officers from Mwariki Police Station, followed intelligence leads that led them to a plot in the Quarry area of Rongai.
However, the suspect managed to escape after detecting the police and ran off into the nearby slums where he has been hiding.
During a search of the room where the suspect had spent the night, they found a cell phone, some personal effects, and a mother, and, child clinic booklet that contained the details of another minor from Nakuru County.
This discovery has prompted more worrying questions about the suspect’s activities whilst the investigations are going on.
DCI has appealed to those who have any information about the suspect’s location or details that may benefit his arrest to present them at the nearest police station.
The public can also give information anonymously via the DCI’s #FichuaKwaDCI platform by dialing the toll, free number 0800 722 203 or sending a WhatsApp message to 0709 570 000.
