The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has held talks with the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) on ways to strengthen forensic investigations in Kenya.
The meeting was held on Thursday, September 24, at the DCI offices at Mazingira Complex along Kiambu Road.
DCI Director Mohamed Amin met a delegation from ICITAP led by Programs Analyst Mindy Prado.
The two sides discussed their continued partnership, particularly the training and skills development of officers working at the National Police Service Forensic Laboratory.
Through the partnership, forensic officers have received specialised training in different areas to improve their skills in handling investigations involving forensic evidence.
The training has also helped officers build technical skills needed to deal with complex and emerging crimes.
Amin thanked ICITAP for its continued support, saying the partnership had helped improve the DCI’s investigative capacity.
He also recognised ICITAP’s role in supporting training programmes for forensic officers, which he said had improved their technical skills and preparedness.
Prado reaffirmed ICITAP’s commitment to working with the DCI.
“We are proud of the progress made together and remain committed to supporting the DCI in strengthening its forensic capabilities to meet evolving criminal challenges,” she said.
The meeting was also attended by the Director of the National Forensic Laboratory, Sospeter Munyi.
