The Digital Content Creators Association of Kenya (DCCAK) has issued a clarification following the resignation announcement of comedian and content creator Terence Creative, revealing that he had actually been suspended from his position as the association’s Secretary General months before making his departure public.
According to the association, Terence had been suspended from his position on May 2, following allegations linked to an incident at a massage parlour in Kiambu County, where a woman made claims against the content creator.
“The Board of Directors of the Digital Content Creators Association of Kenya (DCCAK) hereby formally notifies you of its resolution to suspend you from your position as Secretary General of the Association, with immediate effect,” the letter read.
The suspension was signed by DCCAK Chairman Bob Ndolo, with Joan Wanjiku Waweru appointed as an Acting Secretary General.
In the interim, Ms. Joan Wanjiku Waweru has been appointed to serve as Acting Secretary General of DCCAK until further notice,” the letter read.
The association’s clarification revealed that Terence had not been actively serving in the position for approximately six months before announcing his resignation.
During the period of suspension, you are required to step aside from all duties, responsibilities and official functions attached to the office of Secretary General until the matter is fully resolved,” it stated.
The clarification provided further context to Terence’s announcement, which had initially suggested that he was voluntarily stepping away from the leadership position.
