The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is sending high-level delegation to Uganda on Tuesday to evaluate the process of preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The tournament, scheduled to be hosted by East African countries, has raised questions about readiness, as infrastructure, financing and logistical planning are the major challenges prompting CAF to tighten its oversight of the process.
According to CAF, Kampala will host two -days meeting on April22 and 23, while the CAF officials will talk with representatives of three governments and national football associations to review preparations and check what’s next.
The federation pledged to reinforce operational readiness through collaboration and technical assistance across all key sectors. This would become a landmark celebration of unity and sporting excellence, making Africa’s biggest football match ever.
This will strengthen the coordination and accountability in football governing body to accelerate progress and avoid last-minute rushes.
Uganda’s role first stop shows the importance of regional cooperation, expected to produce action plans with Kenya and Tanzania to follow up.
