Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has announced that tickets for the highly anticipated Bayern Munich versus Ajax Amsterdam match in Kenya will go on sale on Thursday, November 5, at 6pm, with the cheapest ticket costing KSh 2,500.

In a statement, Mvurya said tickets would be sold exclusively through the official Talanta Sports City website, with different seating categories released in phases. The government is encouraging supporters to secure their tickets during the announced sales windows, warning that availability in sold-out categories will not be guaranteed in subsequent phases.

Fans have also been cautioned against purchasing tickets through unofficial platforms or making payments to unverified accounts to avoid falling victim to fraud. For those seeking premium experiences, the organisers will also offer skyboxes and hospitality packages. Bookings and enquiries for these exclusive packages will be handled through hospitality.talantasportscity.com.

Bayern and Ajax to bring first-team squads

Mvurya confirmed that both European clubs had committed in writing to fielding their strongest possible starting elevens for the historic encounter.

He dismissed speculation that the event would feature former players or academy teams, insisting that supporters would witness top-level football involving the clubs’ first-team players.

“Let me be absolutely clear: this will not be a legends match or an academy-team exhibition. Both clubs have committed to presenting their strongest possible first-team line-ups,” Mvurya stated.

The match is expected to provide Kenyan football fans with an opportunity to watch two of Europe’s most celebrated clubs compete on local soil. Beyond the football spectacle, the government has promised a major entertainment experience featuring a 12-hour fan festival, international music performers and several activities celebrating Kenya’s sporting culture.

According to Mvurya, preparations are at an advanced stage, with dedicated concierge services and entertainment programmes being organised for supporters. The event is also expected to celebrate Kenyan sporting heroes while showcasing the country’s tourism and entertainment potential to international audiences.

“This landmark event is in line with the Government’s ambition to position Kenya as a leading destination for international sporting events, unlock the immense economic potential of sports tourism, attract investment and ensure that our world-class sporting infrastructure remains commercially viable and financially sustainable,” he said.

Match to test Kenya’s AFCON 2027 readiness

Mvurya further revealed that the Bayern-Ajax encounter would serve as an important test ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Kenya will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania. The international fixture will provide an opportunity to assess stadium operations, security arrangements, transport systems, hospitality services and crowd management under real international match conditions.

He added that the event was fully funded through private-sector support, demonstrating growing corporate confidence in Kenya’s sports industry and its commercial potential. The government hopes the encounter will strengthen Kenya’s reputation as a destination for major international sporting competitions while providing valuable experience ahead of AFCON 2027.
