Kenyan artist Bahati is in an attempt to recover a valued item a yellow and black Lakers cap reported to have been stolen in the course of a fierce fans confrontation. The sentimental cap, bearing the signature of late basketball legend Kobe Bryant, was lost in the course of a commotion that broke out when Bahati was mobbed by rowdy fans.

Going to Instagram, Bahati made the emotional appeal, committing to paying Ksh 50,000 to whoever will return the precious cap. “It was a gift personally given with the signature of the late Kobe Bryant,” he wrote, referring his friends Manu Nyams and Ongachi Nix in the emotional appeal.

It also used a before-and-after photo collage: one with Bahati jubilantly sporting the legendary Lakers cap, and another that captured the dramatic moment it was seemingly lost in the crowd with a red arrow pointing to a fan who appeared to possess it during the commotion.

Fans quickly flooded the comments with reactions ranging from sympathy to amusement. Diana Marua, Bahati’s wife, couldn’t hold back her laughter, replying with a series of laughing emojis . The cap’s connection to Kobe Bryant, who passed away tragically in 2020, adds emotional weight to Bahati’s request.
