Athletics Kenya Launches Nationwide Registration for Training Camps and Support Staff

Athletics Kenya (AK) has announced the commencement of a national registration exercise for all athletics training camps, coaches, medical personnel, and Athlete Support Personnel (ASP).

The initiative aims to standardize and regulate operations across the country to ensure a safe, professional, and accountable environment for athletes.

The registration, set to begin on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, will be conducted in phases across different regions, running until November 7, 2025. The exercise is part of AK’s broader strategy to enhance oversight and improve the quality of training programs nationwide.

Requirements for Coaches, Medical Staff, and ASP

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Coaches: Valid coaching certificate and Police Clearance Certificate.
  • Medical personnel: Professional license and Police Clearance Certificate.
  • Other ASP members: Relevant certifications and a Police Clearance Certificate.

Foreign nationals, regardless of their role, must also provide a valid work permit.

AK emphasized that the registration is mandatory and will help streamline operations, curb malpractice, and safeguard athletes’ welfare.

“This exercise is critical in ensuring accountability and professionalism within our athletics ecosystem,” said an AK representative. “We urge all stakeholders to comply within the stipulated timelines.”
