Harambee Stars practicing ahead of clash with Angola.

Harambee Stars are set to face Angola this evening at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in their second Group A match of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.

After a spirited win against DR Congo in their opening game, Kenya will be looking to build momentum and take a significant step toward the quarter-finals in front of a passionate home crowd.

A victory would put the CHAN debutants on the verge of the knockout stages—a remarkable milestone for the national side.

Head coach Benni McCarthy remains confident but cautious ahead of the clash.

“Beating DR Congo gave us belief, but we know Angola will be tough. They have experience in this tournament and will be desperate. That makes them dangerous,” McCarthy noted.

Austin Odhiambo, the match-winner in Kenya’s opener, emphasized the impact of the home support, saying the team is drawing energy from the fans.

Defensively, Harambee Stars will aim to replicate their solid showing, having kept a clean sheet in the opener—thanks largely to Alphonse Omija, who led the backline with six crucial clearances.

Angola, on the other hand, will be eager to bounce back after a 2–0 defeat to Morocco and keep their CHAN hopes alive in what promises to be a closely contested group.
