On Friday, musician and activist Akothee took to social media to condemn the online fallout between comedian Mulamwah and his ex-girlfriend Ruth K., after Ruth’s private photos were allegedly leaked by the comedian.
In a fiery post, Akothee labelled the act as digital rape, urging the government to criminalize the leaking of intimate images without consent.
“This is not just revenge, it is digital rape,” she wrote, calling for immediate arrests and stronger privacy laws.
She decried the shaming of women and questioned why society still treats female bodies as scandalous. “What is so groundbreaking about a woman’s body? Breasts? A vagina? These are human anatomy, not objects of shame,” she said.
Akothee warned of the lasting trauma such exposure causes, not just for the victim but also for their children. “Can you imagine schoolchildren shouting ‘Ona ku**a ya mama yako’? That shame scars the next generation.”
She urged Kenyans to stop being silent, hold perpetrators accountable, and push for responsible use of social media.
“Control social media. Punish misuse. Protect privacy,” she stated, ending her message with the hashtag #stopExposingourPrivateParts.
