Seven Nakuru County officials are among nine people charged on Friday over the alleged irregular award of tenders worth KSh120 million.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) said the suspects face 19 counts including conflict of interest, money laundering, acquisition of proceeds of crime, procurement offences and fraudulent practices in tendering.
The case centres on the alleged irregular procurement and payment of about KSh120 million to three companies.
Those charged include Director for Medical Services Daniel Wainaina, Director of Health Timothy Kiogora Murithi, Chief Officer for Health Solomon Sirma, Chief Officer for Environment Kennedy Mungai, Chief Officer for Youth and Sports Josphat Kimemia, City Manager Peter Gitau Thabanja and Economist II Lorna Karamuta Mubichi.
Kenneth Muriithi Ndubi and Brian Mwenda Ndubi were also charged.
The three companies named in the case are Denken Building and Construction Limited, Murinchamba Investment Limited and Windcom Solutions Limited.
All the accused pleaded not guilty.
The first three suspects were released on a KSh1 million bond or KSh200,000 cash bail. They were also ordered to surrender their passports and report to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission every two weeks.
The remaining six were released on a KSh500,000 bond or KSh200,000 cash bail.
The case will be mentioned on September 19 for pre trial directions.
