Three Kenyan Films Selected For DFM Pitch And Finance Forum, South Africa

Kenya film industry has made a milestone after three local productions filmmakers were selected to participate in the Durban FilmMart (DFM) Pitch and Finance Forum, one of Africa’s leading platforms for emerging filmmakers.

The projects will showcase 33 other filmmakers, including Mary Wanjiku, Mkamzee Mwatela and Mumo Liku, presenting their projects at the 17th DFM, which will take place from October 9 to 12 in Durban, South Africa.

The DFM allows people working in film to find collaborators and investors for their projects. They represent diverse voices and storytelling traditions, ranging from intimate human dramas to bold explorations of cultural identity.

The DFM and Finance Forum will feature eight animations, ten fiction features, ten documentary features and seven series projects in development that will be showcased at the event, featuring a robust industry program focusing on current trends, innovations and challenges faced by the industry.

The three Kenyan projects selected are: Producer Mary Wanjiku, Carlos Zerpa Bravo, with director Orlymar Paredes from Kenya and Brazil. In the fiction series, FISI (HYENA), producer Mkamzee Mwatela and director Sanele Zulu represent Kenya. The documentary series Majuto si Mjukuu (Heirs of no Regret) will feature producer Mumo Liku and director Saitabao Kaiyare from Kenya.
